Day 1, Puerto Maldonado

Reception at the Puerto Maldonado Airport , transportation to the chosen hotel , welcome drink, lunch and free afternoon to know the town , details about the program and the last moment shopping .

You can reach Puerto Maldonado town by air or land with the bus service, which start in Cuzco at the terrestrial terminal and takes 22 hours aprox.

Day 2 Puerto Maldonado (Peru) – Malecon stream ( Bolivia )

Alter Breakfast around 7 am we will leave by car from Puerto Maldonado crossing the Madre de Dios river by ferry, destination to Manuripi river, two hours and a half away through the Trans Oceanic route which link Peru Brazil and Bolivia .

At the Manuripi river we will embark in a motor boat which will take us along the river for the following two and a half days.

The first stage of the trip is a river tour observing the wildlife along the shore. The Manuripi river is a narrow river with a meandering course which permit a easy observation the environment from a close point of view. This will be part of the training before entering to the Manuripi National Reserve, in which we will keep a record as part of a scientific research. All the team are involved.

After 5 hours we will arrive to a beautiful stream called Malecon, which is a small river with lake characteristics, clear water, very rich in fishes, birds and mammals. The vegetation is very unique due the singular ecology of this area.

Here will start our participation in a research project which that aimes to discover the exact potential of this part of the Manuripi National Reserve.

Box lunch on board .

In Malecon after registration at the Reserve checking place, we will establish our first camp along the lake shore for our first night.

In the afternoon paddling, fishing , or walking can be part of the activities in the place.

After dinner chance to meet the park rangers for an exchanging of impressions and informations about the Manuripi National Reserve amazonic endemic wildlife.

The sound of the forest will surround us in the first camp night into the amazon forest.

Day 3 Malecon Stream- Bay Lake:

In the early morning while stripping down the camp and preparing breakfast it is possible to appreciate an intense activities of macaws , parrots, egrets and different kind of other birds and monkeys.

Alter breakfast we will follow our trip down river for about 3 hours destination Bay Lake, this part of the river trip is particularly rich in wildlife and pristine landscapes because lack of humans settlements and different kind of forest due the meandering course and geomorphology.

Arriving at the Bay Lake establishing the campsite and fix up lunch.

Alter a brief rest, a walk through the forest of the surrounding primary forest with an amazing diversity in trees such as the brazilian nuts and other important species for the wood industries, endemic in this part of the amazonic forest. Example cedar wood, South american mahogany (caoba) and hard wood tree for parquet industry. All of them known as “emergent trees” between to 35 to 45 meters tall.

In the Rainy season it is possible to observe the Brazilian nuts harvesting work, local principal economic activity, done by small familiar groups of collectors .

By the late afternoon we can enjoy the sunset from the lake, during a short excursion by boat. At night fall is possible to observe big caimans, visible to us with the help of a flashlights, who´s lights make their eyes shining red orange. Back to camp and ready for dinner.

After dinner it is possible to try our luck fishing the big variety of Amazonian fishes, that the site offer.

Day 4 Bay Lake- San Silvestre Cobija- Brasileia

Beginning us the previous day, after breakfast and loading up our canoe following the course down river, for a couple of hours until arriving at the small town of San Silvestre, from where we will follow the trip by car until the twin city border towns of Cobija in Bolivia and Brazileia in Brazil, which are separated by the Acre River.

Accommodation in the hotel at the choosen town ( Brazil or Bolivia )

Lunch

Free afternoon with the guide help for connections for the day after.

Due the particular border location of both towns it is possible to move easily by foot or renting a little motorbike between towns, experimenting at first hand the cultural and linguistic difference of the two countries.

Farewell dinner , and tour end .
